Maja Palm

Maja graduated from Stockholm University of the Arts in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in screenwriting. Her two graduation films demonstrated her range as a writer, from exploring darker subject matter in the drama thriller Trap to depicting a coming-of-age story set within a teenage subculture in 2008 Loves You.

2008 Loves You premiered at the Göteborg Film Festival in 2024, where it won the Dragon Award for Best Swedish Short. That same year, the film was longlisted for a Guldbagge Award in the Best Short Film category. Since then, Maja has continued to write short films while developing her own original projects.

With an additional bachelor’s degree in film studies, Maja has a solid understanding of film as a medium. A lifelong avid reader, she draws a great deal of inspiration from literature and has a strong command of language and storytelling. She wants to tell stories that connect with audiences on a human level, always approaching her characters with empathy while exploring complex people who make mistakes.

Maja is a team player who loves collaborating with others, whether developing someone else’s idea, adapting an existing work or contributing to a writers’ room. When developing original ideas, she focuses first on finding a story that excites her and then on identifying the format that serves it best. She is drawn to a wide range of genres, with a particular interest in comedy and stories for children.

In the autumn of 2026, Maja began studying at Alma Manusutbildning, where she will continue developing original projects, including a TV series with the working title Göra slut, while also hoping to establish new creative collaborations.
